Prep Program Overview
Our Prep program for 4 to 5 year olds is a time of play, socialisation, exploration and all-important early learning.
Our Prep program for 4 to 5-year-olds provides a rich blend of play, socialisation, exploration, and foundational early learning, setting the stage for a smooth transition to formal schooling.
At Sydney Adventist School Auburn, we understand the critical role early childhood experiences play in a child's development. Our pre-kindy Prep program is specifically designed for children who have turned four, offering them a supportive and engaging environment where they can thrive in their early years.
Curriculum and Learning Approach
Prep students are exposed to the Early Stage One (Kindergarten) content from the NSW curriculum, providing them with the foundational skills and knowledge needed for a confident and successful transition to Kindergarten. Our thoughtfully designed program nurtures a love of learning, with a strong emphasis on early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, and Christian values, including learning about Jesus. This holistic approach helps each child build the critical skills they need to thrive in their first years of formal education.
Life in Prep
Preparation for Kindergarten
Along with the exposure to Kindergarten content, prep is co-located on the main school grounds, our Prep program helps children become familiar with school teachers, students, routines, and values, easing their transition to Kindergarten.
Operating Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:55 am - 3:00 pm
Friday: 8:55 am - 2:35 pm
Prep Eligibility
To enrol in our Prep program, children should:
- Be turning 4 by June 30 in the year they will start Prep
- Be fully toilet trained and able to manage basic self-care
- Show a level of independence, including comfort with separating from parents and adjusting to a group environment
- Be able to follow basic instructions and participate in group activities
Enrolment Process
To enrol your child into Prep you must:
- Fill out the Enrolment Form available online or at the school office
- Pay a $100 non-refundable enrolment fee upon acceptance of enrolment.
Enrolment priority will be given to those who have siblings at the Primary School, an older child nearing the age of 5 and those who submit their enrolments early. Enrolments that are received once the class is filled will be placed on our waiting list. When a position becomes available then the family will be contacted to inform them of the days available.
Please note that not all days will be available upon application as positions at our Prep class fill quickly.
